Death by Chocolate Cake!

This recipe is absolutely amazing… rich and decadent, truly perfect in every way! 

A simple sweet homemade cake that is sent over the top with a dark rich chocolate ganache glaze.

What you’ll need:

For cake:

1 cup butter 

1/3 cup cocoa powder

1 ounce butter sweet chocolate

1 cup water

2 cups flour

1 3/4 cups sugar

1 tsp salt

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp coffee grinds

1/2 cup sour cream

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extra

For glaze:

2 tablespoons corn syrup

4 ounces bitter sweet chocolate chopped up

3/4 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons sugar

I cooked mine in a greased bundt pan. Feel free to get creative! (Cooking times may vary depending on what size pan you use)

Preheat oven to 350

For cake:

  1. Melt butter in a small saucepan, stirring in cocoa powder, coffee grinds, 1 ounce of chocolate and water. Heat on medium high until everything is melted and smooth. Remove from heat
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, sugar and salt. Stir in chocolate mixture a little bit at a time. Blending well between each pour
  3. Add in eggs one by one and then sour cream. Stir it all until its smooth
  4. Pour into preferred pan. I cooked it in a bundt pan for about 50 min at 350. Or until knife comes out clean
  5. Let cool

For glaze:

  1. Put chocolate and corn syrup in a mixing bowl
  2. Heat sugar with heavy cream in a small sauce pan until hot
  3. Pour into mixing bowl while slowly whisking into chocolate and corn syrup. Melting the chocolate.

Pour hot glaze evenly onto the Cooled cake!
